Today, Kigali International Airport successfully conducted an emergency simulation exercise designed to test and strengthen the airport’s emergence response capabilities.
The drill, which ran smoothly without any disruption to airport operations, brought together various stakeholders, including airport staff, Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda Defense Force (RDF), Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), and emergency responders.
The exercise was a key part of the airport’s routine safety and preparedness measures, ensuring that all parties are well-prepared to handle potential emergencies.
The Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA), in collaboration with other partners, emphasizing that the safety of passengers and staff remains a top priority in case of attack.
Viewers of the operation included Yvonne Makolo, CEO RwandAir and Habonimana Charles, Director General Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority to ascertain how fast response strategies available work.
The exercise spoke to the level of safety required, and expected at airports; an assurance that any emergency will see everyone ready in case they are needed.
It is in line with the airport efforts to keep ahead of attainment and maintain international safety standards while ensuring that all passengers and staff paramount security measures.
