A soldier from the FARDC fired many shots towards Rwanda.

Rubavu: This Thursday, a soldier suspected to be from the FARDC, while on Congolese territory near the Rwanda border, fired many shots towards Rwanda.

The shots were directed towards Rwanda but did not hit or injure anyone, nor did they cause any damage. However, the soldier’s colleagues immediately pulled him back.

Security authorities on the Rwandan side have started monitoring the situation.

A resident near the Petite Barriere border post says that the Congolese soldier fired many shots, resulting in Rwandans fearing crossing into Congo.

He said, “He came and fired many shots, breaking the windows of a neighboring house. Now, at the border, Rwandan citizens are afraid of going to Goma, and I also see Congolese people heading back.”
