Based on the academic calendar and student holiday schedule announced by the Ministry of Education, the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) informs school administrators, educators, and parents that boarding students will begin returning to their families for the holidays.
Thursday, December 19, 2024:
- Students from schools located in the following districts will return home:
- Nyarugenge, Gasabo, and Kicukiro in Kigali City
- Muhanga and Nyaruguru in the Southern Province
- Ngororero in the Western Province
- Musanze and Burera in the Northern Province
- Nyagatare and Gatsibo in the Eastern Province
Friday, December 20, 2024:
- Students from schools located in the following districts will return home:
- Ruhango and Gisagara in the Southern Province
- Nyabihu and Rubavu in the Western Province
- Rulindo and Gakenke in the Northern Province
- Rwamagana and Kayonza in the Eastern Province
Saturday, December 21, 2024:
- Students from schools located in the following districts will return home:
- Huye and Nyamagabe in the Southern Province
- Karongi and Rutsiro in the Western Province
- Gicumbi in the Northern Province
- Ngoma and Kirehe in the Eastern Province
Sunday, December 22, 2024:
- Students from schools located in the following districts will return home:
- Nyanza and Kamonyi in the Southern Province
- Rusizi and Nyamasheke in the Western Province
- Bugesera in the Eastern Province
Schools are requested to adhere to the travel schedule as planned, sending students early enough to ensure they reach their families before dark and wearing their school uniforms.
Parents are asked to provide their children with travel money to cover their journey home.
Education officials in districts and sectors are asked to monitor the process of returning students to their families and ensure that schools send students home on time.
To facilitate student travel, those departing from Kigali or passing through Kigali en route to other provinces will take their buses at the Kigali Pele Stadium (Nyamirambo), which will transport them to their respective destinations.
