The semi-finals of the women’s basketball league playoffs are set to begin on Friday, September 27, with APR women’s basketball club defending their championship title as the competition heats up.
In the first match of the semi-finals, APR will face Groupe Scolaire Marie Reine at 6 pm in the Petit Stade indoor gymnasium. This game marks the start of a best-of-five series, where the winner will move on to the finals, which will be played in a best-of-seven format.
APR, who finished the regular season at the top of the table, and Marie Reine, who placed fourth, are among the four teams that advanced to the playoffs. The other semi-final features Rwanda Energy Group (REG), who finished second, against third-placed Kepler at 8:30 pm.
Ahead of Game 1, APR’s coach Charles Mushumba expressed confidence, saying he expects nothing less than a strong start to the playoffs with a victory. “Every game counts in these series, and our goal for Game 1 is to start off on the right foot,” Mushumba told Times Sport.
Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday, with the finals set to take place from October 7 to 20 at Petit Stade. The winning team will represent Rwanda in the 2024 Africa Zone Five Club Championship, slated for October and November.
