Tourism is a significant global industry that involves people traveling to destinations outside their usual environment for leisure, recreation, business, or other purposes.
Domestic tourism in Rwanda has been gaining traction in recent years, driven by various factors including government initiatives, improved infrastructure, and a growing interest in exploring local attractions.
For adventure enthusiasts, Rwanda offers a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and a lot of other different activities.
Cenita adventures is an event organising company, which deals with hosting events, and tourism activities with an aim of leaving their customers with great memories.
With a focus on tourism services, since 2022 when Cenita adventures started working, it has successfully planned and carried out trips like hiking, visiting parks, canopy walk, summer trips and others.

Pleta Gasana, CEO and co-founder of Cenita adventures, says it’s still hard Rwandans to embark on domestic tourism activities, but with efforts, it’s getting better.
“Some people have started feeling it, loving it, trying it out, but others, we are still struggling to convince them to come and visit, do hikings and other activities, it’s still a challenge.” Miss Gasana said.
High prices being the main reasons why Rwandans don’t engage in a lot of tourism activities, Cenita’s goal is to make their services affordable to all walks of people.
“Our prices are so affordable. we are mainly focusing on youth, and you know many of them are not working yet, so we are trying so hard to make it more cheaper for everyone to afford.” Gasana added.
Having been in business for one year now, Pleta Gasana says “There are a lot challenges. you can organise an event and don’t even get enough people to cover basic expenses for the whole trip, and you can’t sacrifice the few who paid, you just take your money and invest in to cover the trip.”
Other Cenita’s activities
Not only tourism activities, Cenita adventures organises other events like kids events, where they work mainly with schools and organize events for their kids known as ‘funny day’ where kids go play, and have fun.
Cenita also hosts night movies, bonfire, barbecues, and more customised fun activities for individuals, and groups.
On upcoming events, Cenita is taking people to hike Mount Sabyinyo on March 2nd, 2024, where the trip cost is 35,000 rwf for Rwandans, 30,000 rwf for students, 105,000 rwf for residents and 125,000 rwf for foreigners (entry permit, transport, lunch and soft drinks, water, photoshoot and guidance fee inclusive).
Domestic tourism in Rwanda offers a wealth of opportunities for Rwandans to explore their own country, connect with their heritage, and contribute to its sustainable development.
With its diverse attractions, warm hospitality, and commitment to conservation, Rwanda is increasingly becoming a sought-after destination for both domestic and international travelers alike.
