This Friday at 4:30 PM, the organizers of the Tour du Rwanda will announce the much-anticipated details for the 2025 edition, including the teams, routes, and partners. The Tour du Rwanda, a prestigious cycling race that traverses the country, is set to take place for the 17th time since it became an international event.
Last year, the Tour du Rwanda saw participation from 19 out of the 20 expected teams, with only 16 being announced beforehand. The 2024 edition featured two routes that will be used in the World Championships #Kigali2025. The race reached Kibeho in Nyaruguru for the first time and passed through the newly constructed Gicumbi-Nyagatare road to Kayonza. This year, cycling enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new routes for 2025.
Last year’s teams with Rwandan riders included Team Rwanda, Java-InovoTec, May Stars, and UCI-CMC. The first two teams have already commenced their preparations for #TdRwanda2025. The 2024 edition also featured home teams from Rwanda such as Israel-Premier Tech, TotalEnergies, Bike Aid, Eritrea, and others. The big question is whether these teams will return and which new teams might join this year.
Team Rwanda is starting a two-month training camp on Friday, November 29, in preparation for the Tour du Rwanda 2025. The 17th edition of this annual cycling event, which attracts professional cyclists from around the world, is scheduled to take place from February 23 through March 2, 2025.
The riders will train at the Africa Cycling Rising Center in Musanze, focusing on key routes designated for the Tour du Rwanda, particularly in the northern region of the country. National team coach David Louvet has summoned 15 riders, from which he will select the final five-man roster for the Tour du Rwanda 2025. The riders include:
Jean Claude Nzafashwanayo, Didier Munyaneza, Espoir Uhiriwe, Phocus Nshimiyimana, Aphrodis Tuyipfukamire, Fiancé Nizeyimana, Uwiduhaye, Vainqueur Masengesho, Moise Mugisha (Benediction), Eric Nkundabera, Shadrack Ufitineza, Pacifique Byusa (Les Amies Sportif), Jean Claude Niyomugabo, Roben Ikundabayo (Nyabihu Cycling Club), Jean De Dieu Imanizaboyo (Sina Cycling Club), Jeremie Ngendahayo (May Fly)
