Israel Intercepts 181 Iranian Missiles as Tensions Escalate Following Hezbollah and Hamas Leader Deaths

181 missiles were fired from Iran on Tuesday, targeting Israel. Most of them were intercepted and destroyed by Israel’s defense technology, known as the Iron Dome.

Iran stated that it carried out the attack in retaliation against Israel, following the death of Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who was recently killed in attacks by Israel on Lebanon, and the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in Iran at the end of August.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Iran “made a big mistake tonight and will pay for it.”.

Speaking at the opening of a cabinet meeting, the Israeli PM says Iran “does not understand” his country’s “determination to retaliate” against its enemies.

“They will understand,” he says. “We will stand by the rule we established: whoever attacks us, we will attack” them.
