The National Bank of Rwanda has introduced new 5000 FRW and 2000 FRW banknotes, featuring different designs from the existing ones.
The new 5000 FRW note will feature the Kigali Convention Center, while the new 2000 FRW note will showcase an illustration of the hills surrounding Lake Kivu.
A Presidential Order establishing these new notes was issued on August 29, 2024, specifying that the new 5000 FRW and 2000 FRW notes will be used alongside the existing notes of 500 FRW, 1000 FRW, 2000 FRW, and 5000 FRW, all of which remain legal tender in Rwanda.
