Real Madrid, the latest trophy, will face Liverpool, while FC Barcelona is set to clash with Bayern Munich, according to the new draw for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League.
On the evening of Thursday, August 29, 2024, in Monaco, France, the draw was held to determine how the teams will face each other in the newly formatted 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, which differs from the previous group stage format.
One of the standouts matches from the draw is Real Madrid from Spain being paired to play against Liverpool from England, while FC Barcelona from Spain will take on Bayern Munich from Germany.
These matches will be played under the new format after the number of teams increased from 32 to 36. The competition will start on September 17, 2024, and conclude on January 29, 2025.
Each team was drawn to face eight other teams, playing eight matches in total—four at home and four away.
After these eight matches, the top eight teams based on points will automatically qualify for the round of 16. Teams ranked from 9th to 24th will face off in two-legged matches, with the winners also advancing to the round of 16.
Teams ranked between 25th and 36th will be eliminated from the competition.
The dates and times for these matches will be announced on Saturday, August 31, 2024, to avoid scheduling conflicts with other UEFA matches in the same city on the same day.
